About Us
A shared space enjoyed by all
At its core Newforge is a sports facility. Set against the backdrop of the beautiful Lagan Valley Regional Park, our sports complex and events hub is the perfect place for recreational fun, serious training or even business meetings!
We accommodate both amateur and professional teams in a variety of indoor and outdoor sports, across Belfast and the greater region. Our outdoor pitches include a grass pitch, a 3G artificial pitch, hockey pitch, 2G training area and artificial bowls green. Our indoor facilities include a strength & conditioning gym, sports arena and performance gym for club use. We also have several multi-purpose rooms onsite to host meetings and functions from 10 people to 600 people!
Newforge is currently the training home of the Northern Ireland Women’s International football team and the Ulster Rugby Academy.
The teams accessing our facilities take advantage of our pitch, catering and performance gym facilities, as well as the ample free car parking on site.
The Trust
Newforge Community Development Trust (NCDT) operates the Hub at Newforge Sports Complex.
NCDT’s projects at Newforge have transformed the site, which is now a shared space accessible to all. The Athletic Association owns the site, and works with NCDT on sports activities and common goals, as both are registered charities seeking to promote amateur sport and improve community relations.

What we do
At its core, Newforge is a sports facility, and works hard to promote amateur sport in the greater Belfast region.
We host a variety of sports at our indoor and outdoor facilities and aim to provide access to top-level sports facilities so that everyone can partake in healthy, sports & social activities.
We also have numerous multi-purpose rooms on site which can facilitate business meetings or family events for up to 600 people.
Newforge is currently the home of the Ulster Rugby Academy where the local rugby stars of the future are nourished in year-round training and annual summer camps.
Newforge is also the home of the Northern Ireland Women’s international football team. The team used Newforge as its 6-month training camp before their inaugural European Championships in 2022 and are now happy to call the venue home.
Our facilities:
Pitches
In 2020 our vast area of grass pitches were converted into modern, artificial playing surfaces.
We now have an excellent hockey pitch, synthetic bowling green, 3G pitch and multi-use games area. We also kept one of the grass pitches!
The variety of pitches means we can cater to a wide range of team sports such as 5-a-side, football, Gaelic, rugby, tennis, American football and more.
All pitches have convenient parking, floodlighting and fencing. Some feature dug outs and covered spectator seating.
Biscuit Box Café
Located in the centre of the sports pitches, the Biscuit Box provides pitch side catering. This means you don’t have to miss a minute of the action, whilst we provide a variety of hot and cold food and drinks.
If you are visiting outside of trading hours the Biscuit Box also has a vending machine located below the shelter.
Children’s Play Park
Next to the Biscuit Box, the playpark is a safe space for parents to let their children play whilst supporting their loved ones on the field.
The Club
The first building you see when entering Newforge is our Clubhouse, established in 1986. The Clubhouse is a licenced premises which includes McLeave’s Lock restaurant and several rooms suitable for meetings, conferences, and events. It is also home to a Credit Union.
The Hub
Our new Hub is located just beyond the pitches. This fully accessible building contains a gym, changing facilities, viewing terrace and an indoor sports hall.
The hub caters to all needs as it has three treatment rooms offering two physio services and a massage therapist. One of these services are Physio Performance who can help with a wide variety of injuries.
It also has several multi-purpose rooms which can be used for business conferencing but also recreational classes such as yoga and pilates.
